SINCE its formation, Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has always remained at the forefront to render humanitarian services to those most in need especially during disasters. This commendable work of saving lives and strengthening recovery in disasters, contributing towards healthy living and promoting social cohesion in vulnerable communities by the PRCS is greatly acknowledged and recognized by the public at large in the country.
The humanitarian organization is all set to further improve its visibility across the country under the leadership of renowned personality Abrar-ul-Haq who is well known for his philanthropic work. Given his energy and enthusiasm for humanitarian work, we are confident that he will further take forward this national organization and make it vibrant. Also during his interaction with the staff of PRCS, the new Chairman said a comprehensive plan is being worked out and soon will be implemented to strengthen the society’s capacity, coordination so that the humanitarian services could be rendered to the vulnerable in a most efficient manner. Indeed Pakistan has witnessed many disasters over the last two decades including floods and major earthquakes and strengthening the capacity of this vital organization will go a long way to timely respond to any calamity. In fact the society’s millions of volunteers are an asset which should not only be expanded in numbers but also given proper training so that they could effectively be utilized in case of any emergency like situation be it the floods or quakes. The PRCS has also launched its ambulance service in some major cities which need to be extended to the remotest areas.
