OIC Secretary General receives ICCIA’s Secretary-General

Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Mr Hissein Brahim Taha, on 16 October 2022 at his office received the Secretary-General of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (ICCIA), Dr Yousuf Bin Hassan Khalawi.

The subject of the meeting was ways to promote the concept of microfinance in the OIC Member States and to follow up implementation of the family bank project in the G5 Sahel countries, called for by the 48th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers held last March in Islamabad, Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

Dr Khalawi reviewed the ICCIA’s efforts to establish the family bank in the G5 Sahel countries in coordination with the OIC General Secretariat and chambers in the countries concerned.

The Secretary-General renewed the General Secretariat’s interest in enhancing the capacities of the chambers and microfinance institutions in the Member States, giving assurance of the General Secretariat’s readiness to support the ICCIA’s efforts in this regard.—Agencies
