Senior leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter Muhammad Farooq Rehmani has lambasted the Indian authorities for rejecting bail applications of PhD scholar Abdul Aala Fazili and journalist Fahad Shah after over seven months detention in Kot Bhalwal Jail, Jammu.
Muhammad Farooq Rehmani in a statement issued in Islamabad said that both Abdul Aala Fazili and Fahad Shah have been detained under black law, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). He said Dr Abdul Aala Fazili is a PhD scholar in pharmaceutical sciences and had finalised and published his thesis when he was arrested by the Indian infamous National Investigation Agency (NIA) in May this year and put in different interrogation centres for fabricated charges of so-called anti-India activities. Fahad Shah is a young journalist who upholds normal activities of IIOJK, he added.
Farooq Rehmani said India’s Kashmir policy is based on revenge and animosity against its educated youth because they think the youth do not support obscurantist ideology of the Bharatiya Janata Party racism and rhetoric of the Modi regime in India.
He said Indian establishment never wished to see highly educated youth and freelance journalists coming out from the educational institutions and therefore an intensive wave of terror and revenge has been unleashed by the regime across the territory against the youth and their families.—KMS
