In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leader Khawaja Firdous has welcomed Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for advocating the Kashmir dispute at the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) Summit in Kazakhstan.

Khawaja Firdous in a statement issued in Srinagar said the statement of the Prime Minister of Pakistan that the solution of the Kashmir dispute is imperative for peace in the region is the voice of the Kashmiri people. He said Pakistan’s continued support to the Kashmir cause has always been a source of encouragement for the Kashmiris engaged in a peaceful struggle to secure their right to self-determination.

Khawaja Firdous said that not only the Prime Minister of Pakistan but also the Foreign Minister has exposed the real face of India by highlighting the atrocities of the Indian troops on the Kashmiri people.

He expressed hope that Pakistan would continue its political, diplomatic and moral support. He said peace of the region is at stake due to the lingering Kashmir dispute and unless the long-pending dispute is resolved according to the wishes of the Kashmiri people and resolutions of the United Nations, lasting peace cannot be established in the region.

Khawaja Firdous appealed to the US, UK, Germany, France, Russia and other world powers to put pressure on India to settle the Kashmir dispute in its true context so that lasting peace can be established in South Asia.—KMS
