Narendra Modi-led fascist Indian government is making one after another nefarious attempt to bring about a demographic change and impose its Hindutva agenda in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

It is forcefully pursuing its nefarious policy to win majority seats in the so-called Assembly elections in the future and install a Hindu chief minister in the occupied territory.

In its latest move, the Modi regime has authorized tehsildars (revenue officials) to issue certificate of residence to all the people who have been residing in Jammu city for more than one year to facilitate their entry in the ongoing special summary revision of electoral rolls. District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Avny Lavasa, passed an order, today, for inclusion of such residents in the voter lists.

The Special Summary Revision of electoral rolls was started in IIOJK on 15 September, this year, for registration of new voters, deletion, correction and transposition of voters.

In utter violation of the United Nations resolutions, the Modi regime has already allowed its citizens, temporarily residing in IIOJK, to vote in the so-called assembly elections. It has declared that the voters who will be of 18 years of age on 1 October 2022 or who have attained the age of 18 years before that can get their names included in the voter lists during this period. Thus, around 20 to 25 lakh new voters, mostly from India, will be included in the voters’ list. Almost all political parties except the Bharatiya Janata Party strongly opposed the inclusion of non-locals as voters and even protested against the move.—KMS
