Provincial Minister for Livestock and Dairy Development Sardar Husnain Bahadur Dreshak has said that compensatory grant will be given to poor farmers for the losses of animals caused by mosquito-borne lumpy skin disease virus (LSDV) and in this connection data has been collected about the dead live stock in the province. He was talking to newsmen during his visit to Attock on Sunday.
Member Punjab assembly Syed Yawar Boukhari, Col (retd) Muhammad Anwar, Jamshaid Altf , additional deputy commissioner Zulfiqar Ahmed, Director General Livestock Extension Dr. Ehtishamul Haque, Director Livestock Rawalpindi Division Dr. Sarfaraz Chatta, Director General (Research) Dr Abdul Rehman, Director communication Dr Asif Rafeeq and Additional Director Livestock Attack Dr. Abdul Hameed were also present on this occasion. He added that different categories are formulated to assess the loss and determined the loss rendered by the farmers so that the compensation plan would formulate accordingly.
He said that Pakistan is the fourth largest country in the world in terms of milk and meat production. “The promotion and protection of livestock throughout the province will further increase the volume of milk and meat production”. Mr Dreshak added. He said that for the first time in the history of the province, livestock policy has been drafted which would be presented to the Cabinet for approval soon.
