Punjab Minister for Local Government & Community Development (LGCD) Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed laid the foundation stone of development projects worth Rs. 2.10 billion in nearby town Muridke on Friday.
Addressing the ceremony, the minister said that funds had been handed over to Tehsil Municipal Committee Muridke for the development projects, adding that six tube wells for water supply had been installed in the city, while another 20 tube wells were being installed.
Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed said that new machinery worth Rs. 250 million was purchased to strengthen the sanitation system of the city. He said that new roads would be constructed and seven new parking stands would be established in addition to tuff tiles in the main bazaars.
The minister thanked the Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi for launching development programmes as these projects would open new chapters of development in 16 small towns of the province. He said the government paid attention to the development of small cities and allocated a separate development budget especially for South Punjab. He reiterated that new machinery worth Rs. 250 million was purchased to strengthen the sanitation system of the city.
