On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and Provincial Social Welfare Minister Ghazanfar Abbas Chheena, the De-partment of Social Welfare has been mobilized to help the flood victims. 13 more trucks, 17 mini trucks and 5 la-borers have been dispatched to speed up the relief activities in the flood-affected areas under the supervision of DG Social Welfare Faiz Naeem Wa-raich. The donation of tents is also in-cluded.
The provincial minister for so-cial welfare expressed that the relief supplies include dry ration bags, medi-cines, dry food items, shoes, clothes, mineral water. So far, 76 trucks, 28 mini trucks and 44 Mazdas have been sent.
Minister Ghazanfar Abbas Chhina said that goods worth 78.7 mil-lion rupees have been distributed in flood-affected areas with the support of philanthropists and NGOs. He further said that 4 medical camps have also been set up by the Social Welfare Department.
DG Social Welfare has said that In this time of trouble, this series of help will continue on behalf of so-cial welfare with the support of phi-lanthropists and welfare organizations.
