Says early elections sole solution to current political unrest
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that the PTI would fight legally if any obstacle was placed in the way of Chairman PTI Imran Khan. He said that imported government was scared of PTI Chairman’s rising popularity why was why it resorted to file an FIR against him.
Talking to the media along with PTI Senior Vice President Fawad Chaudhry here outside the Islamabad High Court on Monday, he said that the people in every city of Pakistan have recorded their peaceful protest against this move of the government. He said that Chairman PTI has been granted bail till Thursday, adding there was nothing in the case but it was just created out of fear and panic.
Qureshi said that the panic-stricken government wanted to disrupt the mass movement campaign launched by Imran Khan, which was against the democratic traditions and norms, adding that even it did not happen in a dictatorship. However, he stated that the people of the country were with Imran Khan, as after Punjab, the people of Karachi have also put a stamp on his narrative of Imran Khan by trouncing the candidate of government allied parties with huge margin.
Qureshi advised that the imported government should hold fresh, fair and transparent elections instead of creating political instability in the country. He said that media was free during PTI’s government, however, there was no restriction on freedom of expression. Qureshi stated that the government tried to disrupt the social media during Imran Khan’s speech in Liquat Bagh public gathering. However, he made it clear that the nation has now moved far ahead of these past tactics, as people have become aware and were keeping closed eyes on each and every incident happening in the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Fawad Chaudhry said that the imported government would have been convinced now after seeing the last night’s public reaction across the country that any extreme measure against Khan would invite severe response. He said that the government started blocking main highways so as people could not reach Islamabad. He hinted that the imported government would be overthrown by September 10. Fawad said that the IHC approved protective bail of Imran Khan and they would also file a request to quash the FIR in this regard.
Fawad said that the imported rulers’ legs trembled with the first public meeting of Imran Khan in Rawalpindi and registered a fake terrorism FIR against him. He stated that Imran Khan just said that legal action would be taken against the IG, DIG and the Magistrate while Rana Sanaullah, Attaullah Tarar and other PML-N leaders openly threatened the administration but no action was taken against them hitherto.
