From general public to Hurriyat leadership and politicians from across the aisle in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir have categorically rejected the Modi government’s decision to allow its citizens to vote in the so-called Kashmir Assembly elections.
APHC leaders in their statements issued in Srinagar termed the move as an attempt by the Modi regime to install a BJP chief minister in IIOJK as well as to dilute the disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir. The leaders said that the decision was in contravention to the resolutions of the United Nations on Kashmir, and urged the international community to punish India for going against the World Body’s mandate.
Peoples Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti reacting sharply to the announcement said that the move was aimed at further disempowering the local residents of Jammu and Kashmir.
The PDP President said, “Indian government’s decision to defer polls in J&K preceded by egregious gerrymandering tilting the balance in BJP’s favour & now allowing non locals to vote is obviously to influence election results.—KMS
