Federal Minister of Climate Change Sherry Rehman on Thursday said that rather than protesting against the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) verdict in the PTI’s prohibited funding case, Imran Khan should resign as the party chairman.

In a tweet, she said that it was strange that Imran, who had the habit of lecturing others on morality, instead of him quitting his post was demanding the chief election commissioner (CEC) to resign. “Truth of the matter is that the only purpose of PTI’s protest is to prevent its ‘narrative’ from losing its appeal for the masses,” she opined.

Sherry asked the PTI chairman and other party leaders to refrain from what she said telling lies to the nation. “Despite the fact that Imran has been denying from the very inception that his party has received ‘prohibited’ funding, the ECP report, on the other hand, reveals that the PTI has concealed 13 of its bank accounts and prohibited funding it received from foreign donors,” she added.—Staff Reporter
