In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, senior leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), Professor Abdul Ghani Butt, has said that resolution of the Kashmir dispute is essential for lasting peace and prosperity in the region.
Professor Abdul Ghani Butt visited the residence of freedom activist Ghulam Rasool Mohroo, who died in Sopore yesterday, and expressed sympathy with the bereaved family.
Addressing a condolence meeting on the occasion, he lauded his role for the freedom movement and said that it was because of the sacrifices made by the political workers like Ghulam Rasool Mohroo and the people of Kashmir that the Kashmir dispute had become the focus of attention at the international level.
The APHC leader said instead of hostilities, the governments of Pakistan and India should strive for peace so that the region could achieve prosperity. He added that both the countries should start a dialogue process to resolve the long-pending dispute over Kashmir.—KMS
