Biden and Saudi’s crown prince expressed support for promoting the rights of the Afghan people.
US President Joe Biden and Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in a meeting at-tended by senior officials from both sides discussed Afghanistan among other wide range of issues and emphasized the need to support the country’s secu-rity, a statement from the White House said.
The two sides reviewed in detail many shared pri-orities that contribute to the partnership between Saudi Arabia and the US, the statement added.
“The two sides stressed the need to support Af-ghanistan’s security and to address the threat posed by Afghanistan-based terrorists,” the statement said. “They also underscored the importance of continu-ing to support humanitarian assistance to Afghani-stan.”
They expressed support for addressing the needs and promoting the rights of the Afghan people in-cluding the rights of women and girls to education and enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health and, for women, the right to work, the state-ment added.
At the end of the meeting, the two sides issued a communique outlining the strategic partnership between Saudi Arabia and the US over the coming decades with the aim of advancing their mutual interests and advancing a common vision for a more peaceful, secure, prosperous, and stable Middle East, according to the statement.—Tolo News
