Indus Motor Company (IMC) joined hands with The ChildLife Foundation, pledging its support with a Rs 6.50 million donation, towards establishing the ChildLife Resuscitation Room -equipped with cutting-edge life-saving medical equipment- at the Children’s ER (Emergency Room) at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Islamabad.
In addition, this Resuscitation Room will also provide Telemedicine support through its Telemedicine Control Room at the Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital, Karachi. The facility is set to be operational in August 2022.The cheque was presented by IMCs Head of CSR and Media Management, Asad Abdullah to CEO, Child Life Foundation, Ahson Rabbani at the Foundation’s corporate office at Karachi.
ChildLife provides life-saving treatment to more than 1 million children annually – free of cost. It manages 24×7 Children Emergency Rooms & Telemedicine Satellite Centers in 75+ public sector hospitals across Pakistan, in partnership with the government. The Foundation, currently, has 11 state-of-the-art model ERs in government teaching hospitals at Karachi, Nawabshah, Larkana, Sukkur, Quetta, Hyderabad and Lahore.
CEO IMC, Ali Asghar Jamali expressed, “Pakistan has one of the world’s highest child mortality rates. According to UNICEF, over 1,000 children below the age of 5 years die every day, 80% owing to preventable causes. Our CSR program, Concern Beyond Cars, aims at initiatives that are sustainable with a visible impact and this partnership with The ChildLife Foundation is one such instance.
