Office bearers of Marble Mines and Industry Development Association (MMIDA) on Tuesday showed concern over severe inflation, political tension, continuous increase in petroleum products, increase in power units and fuel price adjustment. In this connection a meeting was held here on Tuesday.

The meeting was attended by members of all marble zones across the province. Addressing the meeting Mohammad Sajjad Khan Chairman MMIDA expressed concern over the recent surge in inflation and said that due to the current decision of the government of sharp rise in prices of petroleum products and electricity the marble industry is taking its last breath as the marble industry was on the verge of collapse.

He argued that the marble industry is the only industry in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and it is playing its full role in the development of the country and the province. He added that the marble industry is restoring inflation and providing employment to millions of people. He added that the industry is now on the brink of collapse as about 50 per cent of the factories across the province have been shut down due to the government’s inattention.
