In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, APHC leaders Devinder Singh Behl and Abdul Samad Inqilabi have condemned in the strongest terms the biased decision of life imprisonment to Yasin Malk by the Indian NIA court in false cases. According to Kashmir Media Service, Devinder Singh Behl in a statement issued in Jammu said that India was in fact using shameful tactics to suppress the voice of the Kashmiris.

He said that Yasin Malik was a political leader and was illegally detained in India’s Tihar jail and urged the international community to play its role in releasing Yasin Malik and other illegally detained Hurriyat leaders and activists.

Devinder Singh Behl asked India to read the writing on the wall and come forward to resolve the lingering Kashmir dispute in accordance with the United Nations resolutions and aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

Abdul Samad Inqilabi in his statement said that killings, detention and other inhuman tactics could not prevent the people of Kashmir from their just struggle for right to self-determination. He said that life imprisonment for Yasin Malik would provide fresh impetus to the Kashmiris’ freedom movement.

A big protest rally was held at Athmuqam in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, today, against the sentencing of Muhammad Yasin Malik, in fake cases by the Indian court.

The anti-India rally was led by Sharafat Hussain Malik, president of Pasban-e-Hurriyat Neelum dis-trict, and other political, social and religious leaders, including social activist Syed Sultan Pirzada. Hun-dreds of people attended the rally, chanting slogans for the release of Yasin Malik and other Kashmiri prisoners and for the liberation of Kashmir from Indian occupation.

Addressing the protesters, the speakers said that the decision of life imprisonment against Yasin Malik was the worst example of Indian oppression and judicial repression. They said that India was victim-izing Hurriyat leaders for their role in the ongoing freedom movement.—INP
