NA speaker visits embassy to condole demise of UAE president

Speaker National Assembly on Tuesday visited the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates to express condolences on the sad demise of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The Speaker was received by the Ambassador of UAE to Pakistan, Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Al-Zaabi, said a news release.

Appreciating the invaluable contributions of Sheikh Khalifa in strengthening bilateral ties between Pakistan and the UAE, the Speaker said that Pakistan lost a sincere friend and a great leader of Muslim Ummah with his demise.

Paying tributes to the life and legacy of Sheikh Khalifa, the Speaker fondly recalled his services to the nation and country, which will forever remain etched in history.

Referring to the existing bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, the speaker emphasized the need to further strengthen the long-standing fraternal ties between the two countries through regular contacts and interaction at every level.

He added that Pakistan and the UAE enjoyed close political ties over the years; however, the bilateral trade does not commensurate with the depth of the political and security engagements between the two countries.

Talking about the Pakistani diaspora in the UAE, the Speaker said that UAE was considered as a second home by Pakistan and its people. Due to religious and cultural commonalities, there was great love and affection in the people of Pakistan for the brotherly country.

He added that there was a bulge of skilled labor in Pakistan and their services could be utilized by the brotherly country for its progress and development.

The UAE Ambassador thanked the Speaker National Assembly for his visit and endorsed his remarks regarding the scope of expanding cooperation between the two countries in all fields.

The Ambassador reaffirmed the support of UAE towards Pakistan in stabilizing its economy and fight against terrorism.
