The Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) has allowed Karachi Electric (KE) to collect Municipal Utility Charges (MUC) through monthly bills has been challenged in Sindh High Court (SHC). In a petition filled by Senior Advocate Arif Sheikh pleaded the honorable court that Sindh government is forcibly punishing the public to collect municipal utility charges by allowing KE to collect in monthly bills with electricity consumption basis which is illegal.
The petitioner urged the court to was overview the performance and the audit of KMC, If the citizen does not want to pay the KMC for any reason, then where should he could lodge his complaint. According to the reports, KE will charge from Rs 40 to 500 over as per the unit consumption.
Talking to “Pakistan Observer” Advocate Arif Sheikh said that the government will pocket over Rs 600 million from public the money will drain in luxuries of the government officials. It is to be noted that the solar system users and cantonment board residents are not included in the Karachi Municipal’s MUC. The people are already concerned about inflation, instead of giving relief to the people at such a time, a conspiracy is being hatched to impose forced taxes on the poor, said Arif Sheikh.
