All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter Convener, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, in a memorandum to the OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha has apprised him of the political and human rights conditions and daily killing of innocent people in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Muhammad Farooq Rehmani in the memorandum also informed the OIC Secretary General about a vicious campaign of islomophobia in India.

The memorandum urges the OIC chief to hold India accountable for violations of international humanitarian law and UN Charter. It says that the UN should be encouraged to constitute a commission of enquiry on the basis of UN Human Rights Commissioner’s reports of 2018 and 2019.

“OIC should urge the UN General Assembly to take up the Kashmir issue for debate and resolution. Close economic and trade ties with India should be reviewed in view of its settler-policy to change the Muslim majority character of Kashmir and Indian government must be stopped from carrying out the Islamophobic campaign across India. Tangible measures by OIC are required to compel India to abandon her settler plan in Kashmir,” it says.

The memorandum maintains that India should be compelled to withdraw all draconian laws from IIOJK imposed after or before 5 August 2019. It adds that all fake criminal cases against the Kashmiri leaders must be withdrawn and they should be released forthwith.

The memorandum says Pakistan and India should be encouraged and facilitated by the OIC to resume stalled talks on Kashmir to settle the long-standing dispute according to the UN Charter and the relevant resolutions of the World Body. It says that APHC-AJK would like to suggest the UN and OIC Secretary General, joint endeavors for a peaceful and durable resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.

The copies of the memorandum have also been emailed to Pakistan’s ministry of foreign affairs and OIC’s Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission.—KMS
