The federal capital on Saturday recorded 1.42 per cent coronavirus positivity as 30 persons tested positive after 2,110 tests conducted in last 24 hours.
According to District Health Officer (DHO) of Islamabad Dr Zaeem Zia the decline in positivity ratio of Covid-19 was possible due to vigorous Covid-19 vaccination drive currently underway in Islamabad.
After the new cases reported in last one day Islamabad’s tally of cases has reached 134,797 while there is almost an equal number of recovered cases i.e. 133,430.
With one death in last 24 hours, Islamabad’s Covid-19 toll stands at 1,020, according to the Ministry of the National Health Services (NHS).
A day earlier the capital had recorded 317 active cases out of which 34 were admitted to hospitals, 32 were on oxygen and one on ventilator.
Islamabad’s positivity continues to remain below 2 percent for last couple of weeks.
In a tweet, Dr Zaeem Zia said in accordance with our mission of Coronavirus free Islamabad, our teams are working 24/7 for a vaccinated Islamabad.
“Vaccination is an integral part against Covid-19 so make sure you have got yourself vaccinated,” said Dr Zaeem Zia further. Random vaccination is being conducted in different parts of Islamabad, he said.
According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 70 percent of Islamabad’s targeted school students have been vaccinated while the District Health Department’s vaccination outreach teams are conducting random vaccination throughout the city.
“We are on guard to make sure no one is left behind in our strife for vaccinated Islamabad,” said DHO Dr Zaeem Zia.
