A resolution demanding release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui was presented in South African Parliament.
As per information received from South Africa says that the resolution was submitted by Al-Jamah Party head and member parliament, Ganief Handricks on the occasion of the International Women’s Day.
The resolution says this House presents resolution for the release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui, who is detained in FMC Carswell jail Texas. She was kidnapped while going to Islamabad from Karachi. This House on the occasion of the International Women’s Day demands that she should be released.
However, Aafia Movement Pakistan leader and noted neurophysician of the country Dr Fowzia Siddiqui has welcomed the resolution in South African Parliament and thanked the Al-Jama Party and their parliament members.
She regretted that this month Dr Aafia would complete 19 years in detention without committing any crime. She said Dr Aafia was working to bring a change in the country through education. She said it is regrettable that the parliament members of our country are fighting a shameful war to get power, while peace and justice loving people of several other countries are busy in struggle to raise a strong voice for her release.
She said that the government and opposition in Pakistan have neglected the safety of life, property and honour of their citizens and instead are fighting tooth and nail to get power. She said now the masses of Pakistan fully know their friends and foes and they would have to rise for getting their rights.
