LAHORE Qalanders finally erased the pain of years of failure to finally bag their maiden Pakistan Super League title by defeating favourites Multan Sultans in the final by forty two runs at Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday.
The credit really goes to the excellent captaincy of Shaheen Afridi and his team mates who lived up to the expectations of their fans.
At the same time, it will also be unfair not to commend the excellent arrangements made by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) headed by Ramiz Raza for this mega event.
For us, whosoever wins in the PSL, it is the triumph of whole of Pakistan. The way PSL has emerged on the world stage is really amazing and it has really provided a platform to the players to showcase their talent.
Shaheen Afridi, a top class fast bowler, is a permanent feature of the national cricket team in all the three formats.
And the way he captained Lahore Qalanders in the PSL has also brought to fore his leadership qualities.
This is something which is good for the future of our cricket and the cricket board one day may also consider him for the national level captaincy, though at present the board must continue with Babar Azam as the number of wins he has grabbed in a matter of very little time is really extraordinary and also indicates that the whole team is united under him.
As regards the PSL, very edition of it has proved to be a complete success and this is the reason that it is now being ranked by many as very close to the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The presence of increasing number of foreign players itself proves the popularity of the PSL.
It will not be wrong to say that it is because of the PSL that the international cricket has finally returned to the country.
The future of our cricket is very bright and we are confident the PCB will continue its efforts to further expand and bring improvement in the future editions of the PSL.
