Zahir Jaffer sentenced to death in Noor Mukadam murder case

ISLAMABAD – A court in the federal capital has awarded death sentence to Zahir Jaffer in the Noor Mukadam murder case.

The verdict was announced by Additional Sessions Judge Ata Rabbani after months long trial in the case.

The murder case came into light when Zahir was arrested from his house in F-7/4 on July 20, 2021 where he beheaded Noor Mukadam, daughter of former Pakistani diplomat Shaukat Ali Mukadam, after he held her hostage over the breakup.

Later, police arrested eleven others suspects – Zahir Zakir Jaffer’s parents Zakir Jaffer and Asmat Adamjee, three domestic help Iftikhar, Jan Muhammad and Jameel and six Therapy Works employees including Tahir Zahoor, Amjad, Dilip Kumar, Abdul Haq, Wamiq and Samar Abbas – in the case.

Last year in October, the court indicted all the twelve suspects in the case.

In the verdict, the court also awarded ten years imprisonment to Iftikhar and Jan Muhammad for abetting the crime.

Meanwhile, all the other suspects including Asmat Adamjee, father,and Therapy Works owner have been acquitted in the case.

Noor’s father Shaukat Mukadam, who is also a former ambassador, has appreciated teh court decision, adding that ‘exemplary punishment has been given to the accused’.

“Everyone was praying for justice in the case. The whole nation and world supported us,” he added.
