The Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, Gulzar Shah said that all efforts are being made and resources have been fully mobilized to complete the Lai Expressway and Flood Channel project.
In a statement here on Sunday, he said that the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved the mega project of Lai Expressway and Flood Channel.
The long-cherished aspirations of the citizens of Rawalpindi are now heading towards fulfillment as development work on this mega project is in full swing.
Gulzar Shah said Land Acquisition for Lai Expressway & Flood Channel Rawalpindi’s worth is Rs. 24,960.70 million.
The project’s format part of acquisition and leadership of land to provide a clear Right of Way (ROW) for construction of the Lai Expressway and flood Channel Project which would constitute an integral part of the transportation network of Rawalpindi city besides flood mitigation and sewage disposal.
He said the Urban Regeneration Corridor along Lai Nullah Expressway should be shared without any hindrance at the highest forum. Members of the Revenue Department, including the Land Directorate of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) are participating in this project. He said the Lai Expressway and Flood Channel project will be completed through a public-private partnership.
The Commissioner Rawalpindi Division said that foundational PC-I has been cleared by the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP), the Planning Commission and the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) and ECNEC.
He said all this has been done by RDA senior officers by working hard day and night and accomplished efforts on 14th October 2021.
He said since efforts have been made to accelerate for the Lai Expressway project instead of the approval of its PC-1.
Gulzar Shah said now in this phase this mega project will go ahead through a tender stage. These steps have been taken to start practical work on this project, he added.
