In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Anjuman Auqaf of Jamia Masjid Srinagar has ex-pressed concern over the continued closure of the historic Srinagar Jamia Masjid.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the An-juman Auqaf in a statement issued in Srinagar said, as the year ends, Jamia Masjid still remains out of bounds for Muslims of the territory for obligatory Friday prayers.
It also denounced the continued illegal house ar-rest of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq who had been under house detention since August 2019 when Modi-led fascist Indian government repealed special status of IIOJK and imposed military siege in the territory.
The Anjuman said the mosque has been forcibly locked down for 45 Fridays in this year and for 21 consecutive Friday so far. And in the previous five years from 2016 to 2020 the Jamia Majid has been locked down for 112 Fridays.
This data, it added, puts to shame the forcible closure of the mosque during the periods of worst autocratic rule that Mus-lims of Kashmir have suffered in the past.
It deplored that authorities have not paid heed to the repeated appeals by people of Kashmir, ulema and the Anjuman Auqaf to allow Juma prayers in the historic mosque and release the Mirwaiz whose all human rights have been seized
The Anjuman once again asked the authorities to stop this grave injustice against the Muslims of the valley and open up the mosque to people and release the Mirwaiz.
In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kash-mir, the authorities imposed strict restrictions in downtown area of Srinagar, today, to prevent people from conducting a march towards city’s historic Jamia Masjid.
According to Kashmir Media Service, call for the march was given by the illegally detained Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Ma-sarrat Aalam Butt, to register protest against the disallowing of Juma prayers at the Jamia Masjid for the last one year. The march was also aimed at lodg-ing a forceful protest against Narendra Modi-led fascist Indian government’s latest assault on the IIOJK’s demography that has put the land and re-sources of the territory on sale for the non-locals.
The occupation authorities imposed restrictions by deploying Indian troops and police personnel in strength in downtown and sealing all roads leading to the historic mosque.
The authorities once again disallowed the people to offer Juma prayers at the Jamia Masjid, today, for the 21st consecutive week.—INP
