Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani on Tuesday said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has faced brutal defeat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) local bodies elections.

In a statement, the provincial minister said that the people have taken revenge from the ruling party with the power of vote.

Several results of KP local government polls were halted, he claimed. Saeed Ghani said that amendments were carried out to improve the local bodies laws. No new local government system has been introduced in Sindh, he added.

Meanwhile, talking to media persons at the Sindh Assembly building, Sindh Information and Labour Minister, Saeed Ghani, has said that no new local government system has been introduced in the province as merely amendments have been made to improve the Sindh Local Government Act-2013 under, which the previous municipal polls were held in the province.

The Sindh Information Minister said that it was wrong to run a protest campaign after assuming that any new system of municipal governance had been introduced in the province.

He mentioned that different Opposition political parties had displayed banners in the city to oppose what they assumed was a new local government law unveiled in Sindh.

He predicted that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf would face harsher defeat in the forthcoming local government elections in Sindh, Punjab, and in other parts of the country than its recent crushing defeat in the municipal polls in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Saeed Ghani recalled that Chairman of Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had already predicted that Peshawar would see both rise and fall of PTI.

He said that Bilawal had emerged as the only hope for masses in the country especially for youth as the PPP Chairman had used to do candid talk on the issues of public interests.

He said that complete results of the municipal elections in the KPK had yet to come but the partial outcome of the polls showed that people had rejected the undue interference by the federal and provincial ministers belonging to the PTI during the election campaign.

He said the total sum of the votes secured by all Opposition political parties in KPK was three to four times more than the vote count of the PTI.

He said this trend showed that the PTI would suffer defeat on all the seats of the municipal system in the KPK if the Opposition parties decided to form an alliance to contest the polls.

The Sindh Information Minister said the results of the municipal elections in KPK served as an indicator of what would happen with PTI in the next polls in Punjab and Sindh.

He said the Muttahida Quami Movement had always claimed that Karachi belonged to it but at present, it was maintaining a criminal silence on the issue of sufferings of the people due to massive increase in the prices of essential services and products.

He lamented the situation that MQM had been at the forefront of the vicious campaign being waged to spread ethnic hatred and prejudice on the pretext of the newly passed Sindh Local Government Bill-2021.

He said that people would reject the elements doing politics on the basis of ethnic divide and prejudice much like they had recently rejected the PTI using the power of the vote.
