Principal Postgraduate Graduate Medical Institute & Ameer Uddin Medical College Prof. Dr. Sardar Muhammad Al-freed Zafar has said that polio is not only a disease but threat to the future of the nation so eradication of dangerous disease like polio is essential to save the new generation from disability and build a healthy society.

While inspecting the counter set up for polio vaccination of children at Lahore General Hospital (LGH) on Monday, he said that for eradication of polio, apart from the Government and the Health Department, we all must make concerted efforts and people must move forward and support the medical community.

It should be mentioned here that so far six counters have been set up at Lahore General Hospital in different departments for the polio campaign meanwhile, a mobile team has also been formed which will provide polio drops to the children coming in different departments of the hospital.

Moreover these arrangements will continue from December 13 to 18 at scheduled times for providing this facility to the general public.

Expressing satisfaction over these arrangements, Principal Prof. Al-freed Zafar said that there is a need for all of us to play our positive role in fulfilling this national duty as disability of one child affects the whole family and this disability also affect every member of the family.

Principal PGMI directed that it should be ensured that no child up to the age of 5 years coming to Lahore General Hospital remain deprived of polio immunization so that maximum benefit of this campaign could be achieved.

He inspected the counters set up in the Emergency Department, Outdoor and other departments of the General Hospital and urged the staff to fulfill this duty as human service and national cause as polio prevention is a question of safe future of the country and nation.

Prof. Al-freed Zafar expressed his sadness and regret over the fact that in some areas of country polio workers face various problems and dangers whereas being responsible citizens we should not only cooperate with polio workers but also extend cooperation to them.

Dr. Riaz Hafeez, Dr. Laila Shafiq, Dr. Abdul Aziz and other senior doctors were also present on the occasion.
