Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Justice Javed Iqbal reviewed the commitment for uninterrupted actions against corruption and corrupt elements.
He suggested to include only relevant and evidence loaded witnesses in the Courts to defend the corruption References.
He was chairing an important briefing put forth by Director General (DG) NAB Lahore accompanied by Combined Investigation Teams (CITs), in Lahore Bureau office on Wednesday.
As per the details, Justice Javed Iqbal visited NAB Lahore to review updates in Mega corruption cases particularly housing Sector cases which include Ashiana-i-Iqbal Case, Paragon City Case, Eden Housing scandal and Inquiry against Pak-Arab Housing Society Case etc.
DG NAB Lahore also briefed about the proceedings and updates in under-trial References viz Reference against former CM Punjab, accused Mian Shahbaz Sharif and family (ACR#22/2020), Reference against accused Mir Shakil-ur-Rehman and others (ACR#15/2020) and Ramzan Sugar Mills Reference (ACR#13/2019).
DG NAB Lahore also briefed about the details of recovery made by NAB Lahore during the four years’ tenure of NAB current leadership.
He informed that Rs88 billion have, so far, been recovered in 45 cases since October 2017 to date from which an amount of Rs78 billion have been indirectly recovered in 23 cases whereas, Rs 10 billion have directly been recovered from corrupt elements in 22 cases,
Addressing the Officers of NAB Lahore, Justice Javed Iqbal maintained that NAB is a prime Institution that is challenging corruption and corrupt elements while remaining under the ambit of law.
Numerous National and International Organizations have admitted and admired the diligent services of NAB.
Moreover, he strongly appraised the commitment that NAB would continue to take merit based actions with same zeal and dedication while setting aside any kind of pressure, pressings or targeted propaganda.
He continued by saying that NAB has no links or any kind of affiliation with any political party except the State of Pakistan and its public.
He advised the Prosecution Wing to limiting the number of witnesses in Corruption References, so that, the trials in Courts may be get concluded without any delay.
