NADRA explains step-by-step procedure for converting CNIC into NICOP

Nadra Explains Step By Step Procedure For Converting Cnic Into Nicop

ISLAMABAD – The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has explained the procedure for converting a Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) into a National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP).

Pakistanis planning to move abroad can apply to convert their national identity cards into NICOPs by visiting a NADRA Registration Centre and completing the required formalities.

Applicants should prepare the necessary documents before visiting the centre. These may include a Pakistani or foreign passport, residence permit, work permit or other travel documents.

NICOP Process

The application process begins with visiting a NADRA centre and obtaining a token. Applicants then undergo biometric verification, followed by data entry, during which their personal information, fingerprints, iris scans and photographs are collected.

In the next stage, the application is reviewed and approved. If the centre’s in-charge considers it necessary, applicants may be asked questions about their family, which they are required to answer.

Once the application is approved, the applicant receives an approval message on their mobile phone. The required fee must then be paid online according to the selected processing category.

NICOP applications can be processed within nine days under the executive category, 23 days under the urgent category and 31 days under the normal category.

NADRA has divided world countries into two zones with different fee schedule.

NICOP fees are determined for each country based on the basis of zones.

In the final stage, applicants can collect their NICOP from the same NADRA office by presenting the receipt, according to their selected processing category.
