Address expats issues on priority, IGP tells cops

Orders suspension, arrest of cops accused of killing in-custody accused
Punjab Inspector General of Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan said that provision of assistance and justice to distressed citizens and victims of oppression is among prime priorities of Punjab Police.

He directed RPOs and DPOs to expedite process of resolution of issues faced by citizens under Open Door Policy. The IGP emphasized upon resolving issues of Overseas Pakistanis under their personal supervision.

Rao Sardar Ali Khan stressed that Pakistanis living abroad are valuable assets to the country who play a vital role in development of country and provision of best service delivery must be ensured to them.

He further said that if any overseas Pakistani is facing a case of seizure of property or land grabbing, supervisory officers should use all available resources for their immediate redressal.

Rao Sardar Ali said that citizens coming in open courts should be treated with good manners and wherever irresponsible attitude was adopted towards citizens then action would be taken against the responsible persons.

He forwarded complaints of citizens to different RPOs and DPOs and directed them to resolve these complaints and send report to Central Police Office.

Meanwhile, IG Police Rao Sardar Ali took notice of the death of an accused in custody in Gujrat. He also ordered suspension of the officials involved and registration of a case against them immediately.

The IGP directed the investigation of the case should be completed soon and guilty officials should be punished severely.

According to details, Punjab Inspector General of Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan directed the DPO Gujarat to register a case against all officials involved in the incident and arrest them.

He directed to take strict departmental and legal action against the culprits while fulfilling the legal requirements.

On the direction of IG Punjab, the DPO Gujarat has suspended the staff of CIA and investigation has been started after registration of a case whereas, post-mortem of the accused is also being conducted.

The IG Police directed that investigation into the incident should be completed keeping in view all aspects and no sympathy should be made to those responsible for this incident.

Rao Sardar Ali Khan directed that torture or killing of accused during detention or custody would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He further said that DPO Gujarat should keep in close touch with families of deceased and also ensure delivery of justice on priority basis.

Meanwhile, IG Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan said that cooperation among police, district administration, environmental protection department, health and other agencies concerned is essential for curbing anti-environmental activities causing smog.

Police teams in all districts should continue their anti-smog operations and take actions against massive smoke emitting vehicles, stubble burning and factories and kilns owners for causing environmental pollution on priority basis.

As per directions of IG Punjab, crackdown against anti-smog has been intensified across the province.
