Advisor to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on merged areas and spokesperson of the provincial government, Ajmal Khan Wazir has said that it is the basic responsibility of any government to protect the lives and properties of its citizens and the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will leave no stone unturned to fulfil this basic responsibility adding that his government would not allow anyone to disturb the day to day routines of the public. He was addressing a press conference here on Thursday after attending the meeting of the Ministerial Committee on Law and Order chaired by the Chief Minister Mehmood Khan.
He informed the media persons that the committee reviewed in detail the law and order situation with regard to the Plan-B of Jamiat-e-Ullema Islam(JUI) to block all the main roads and highways in the province. Ajmal Wazir said that the provincial government is very much clear in its strategy and policy to deal with such elements who are trying to disturb the routine life of the citizens by blocking roads and highways and added that protest and agitation is the constitutional right of any political party but it should be within in the parameters of the constitution and the law; and whoever will breach the law will be dealt with iron hands.
‘The provincial government will welcome and facilitate any peaceful protest but it will not allow anyone to block roads and highways in the name of protests as it directly effects the lives of the common man’. Ajmal Khan said and added that if the JUI wants to protest in province it should enter into an agreement with provincial government as it did with the federal government for laying down the parameters for the protest.
