Around 20 km stretch of the Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch national highway which was closed over two weeks ago due to the ongoing anti-militancy operation at Nar Khas in Bhata Dhurian area of Poonch was reopened for traffic on Sunday much to the delight of commuters.

The highway stretch between Bhimber Gali to Jarran Wali Gali was closed on the evening hours of 14 October after an encounter broke out in the area of Nar Khas forest of Bhata Dhurian in which four army personnel were killed.

Since then, traffic was diverted from Mendhar side. On Sunday morning, authorities ordered reopening of highway after which barricading on both the ends were removed by the police. Meanwhile, the anti militancy operation in Nar Khas forests is still going on.—GK
