Another policeman who got wounded in clashes with protesters of the banned Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) succumbed to his injuries in hospital on Thursday morning.

Constable Ghulam Rasool was posted at Kasur’s Saddr police station. He got injured in clashes with the protesters the other day and was brought to THQ Hospital Muridke for treatment.

He succumbed to his wounds this morning at 9am, officials confirmed. The tally of cops who have martyred in the violent protest has risen to five.

On the other hand, a new round of talks between the proscribed TLP and the government’s teams resumed again on Thursday after the earlier round remained inconclusive.

According to officials, the government is being represented in the talks by Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid and Religious Affairs Minister Noorul Haq Qadri.

Imprisoned Chief of proscribed TLP, Saad Rizvi also participated in the talks having a three point agenda.

Meanwhile, several educational institutes closed in Jhelum remain on Thursday due to the long march of the proscribed Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP).

Reportedly, due to high security alert, the district administration decided to keep closed several educational institutes including Government Girls College, Dingi Pulli.

A large police contingent reached the city to deal with any untoward situation. The administration has already closed GT Road for almost 20 hours from four points.

The road users had to face huge problems as they were stranded on the road. To mitigate their plight, the city administration opened up a makeshift shelter place at Civil Hospital where arrangements were made for the passengers’ lodging and dinner.
