Medical social unit costing Rs8.3m to be constructed in Attock

The Attock district would get state of the art medical social unit with an allocation of Rs 8.3 million during the current fiscal year.

Talking to newsmen here on Thursday, Punjab Minister for Bait ul Maal and Social Welfare Yawar Abbas Bukhari has disclosed that Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar has accorded administrative approval of the constriction of the unit in Attock and funds for the project would be released soon. He said that Attock would be only district of the province which has its own building for the unit.

Mr Boukhari while giving details about the project has said that Medical Social Services Projects (MSSP) are established particularly for needy patients especially district headquarters hospitals (DHQs) and tehsil headquarters hospital (THQs) across the province with aim to taking care of poor, needy and disable patients, provision of artificial limbs and other material, arranging financial assistance or medicines for poor and destitute patients through Health Welfare Committee and Patient Welfare Society as well as keeping liaison with families of the patients registered with Medical Social Services Projects.

He said Attock would be role model for other district and general public especially patients coming from far flung towns of the district like Jand and Pindigheab would be facilitated as all the Medical Social Services would be provided to the destitute and poor patients.

Speaking on this occasion, Director General Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Mal Punjab Muhammad Shahid Niaz has said that there are around 200 Medical Social Services centers are providing medical assistance to the destitute and poor patients in the province with the support of Punjab Zakat Department and Pakistan Bait ul Maal Islamabad.

Responding a question, he said that through the construction of the unit, all the facilities and services as well as co-ordination with hospital administration and voluntary social welfare agencies for initiating social welfare services would be accumulated under one roof which would held for ailing community.
