Says govt will provide all facilities to local bodies representatives
Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Thursday described the opposition’s protest as against national interest and unjustified in the prevailing circumstances, saying national interest can never be promoted by spreading uncertainty in the country.
The chief minister advised the opposition to stage a protest against the corruption of its leadership.
“The opposition tried to score a point over corona and dengue and, now, it is trying to interrupt the development journey in the garb of negative politics”, he pointed out, adding that the opposition could not befool the people through propaganda.
“Opposition is making a fuss for the sake of grabbing power and has nothing to do with public welfare or prosperity.”
Usman Buzdar said the government has a full understanding of the problems of the people and steps are being taken to overcome the price-hike.
He repeated that the prices of essential items will be stabilized as a result of steps taken by the government.
The parliamentarians and government officials have been directed to keep an eye on the prices by visiting commercial areas.
The government was working to serve the masses and the steps taken by it will yield positive results, concluded the CM.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar chaired a meeting to decide that the Punjab government will provide every sort of facility to local bodies representatives according to the law and liaison will also be maintained with them
The CM tasked Provincial Minister Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed to maintain contracts, adding that local bodies’ institutions have been reinstated.
Notification is issued and the appointment of administrators has been withdrawn. The local government act will be presented before the cabinet in a final shape; he added and stated that the government respects the court verdict.
Every step was being taken in accordance with the law and constitution; he maintained and directed to provide facilities to local bodies representatives according to rules and regulations.
Law Minister Raja Basharat, Local Bodies Minister Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed, chief secretary, AG Punjab, ACS, secretary law, secretary local bodies and high officials attended the meeting.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar paid tributes to the security officials who sacrificed their lives in an operation against terrorists in Bajaur and termed them as national heroes.
The CM extended sympathies to the bereaved families and stated that the handful of the terrorists cannot weaken the commitment of the nation which is fully committed to completely eradicating the menace of terrorism from the country.
On the other hand, CM Usman Buzdar sought a report from RPO Rawalpindi about an incident of molestation of a girl student and directed to take strict legal action against the arrested accused.
Similarly, the absconding accused should also be arrested and every effort should be made to provide justice to the affected girl, he directed.
Meanwhile, police have been conducting raids to arrest the other accused.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has sought a report from commissioner Lahore and secretary labour about an incident of fire at Multan Road factory.
He directed to identify the reasons for fire adding that action be initiated against those responsible for the negligence. The CM also condoled the death of a labourer and extended sympathies to the heirs.
