DUBAI – Pakistan skipper Babar Azam says he feels the honour to represent the national team as a captain in a mega cricket event of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which is set to kick off tomorrow (Sunday).

In a virtual press conference, the 27-year-old said that the role would be challenging for him but expressed happiness over the confidence posed by the cricket body in him.

Azam said that the team was focused on displaying a strong performance in the world cup, adding that impressive performances bring confidence to the players.

He said that it was a matter of pride when Pakistan won the T20 World Cup in 2009, adding that the team will put full effort to revive the moment again.

Responding to a question, he lamented that the team had not played its scheduled international series against New Zealand and England.

The skipper also defended last-minute changes in Pakistan squad for the T20 World Cup. He welcomed the inclusion of Haider Ali, Shoaib Malik, Sarfraz Ahmed and Fakhar Zaman in the team.

He said that some players could not perform well in the National T20 Cup, which has recently concluded in Lahore.
