Six centers of ICCBS-UOK designated as provincial health research facility

Sindh Government has declared or adopted six centers and institutes of the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, as health related research centers of Sindh Health Department.

Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Director of the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences, and COMSTECH Coordinator General, in a meeting held at the HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry, University of Karachi, informed the ICCBS officials that Sindh Health Department had recently issued a notification to the concerned authorities.

The health department has taken this major initiative with the approval of the competent authority, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, he added.

According to the notification, the names of the adopted centers and institutes included Dr. Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (PCMD), Pharmaceutical Testing Laboratories of HEJ institute, Jamil-ur-Rahman Center for Genomics (PCMD), National Institute of Virology (PCMD), Sino-Pakistan Traditional Medicine Research Center (HEJ), and Center for Bioequivalence and Clinical Research (PCMD).

Prof. Iqbal Choudhary said, “With this new official designation these centers will conduct much needed healthcare research projects, focusing on the genetic, environment, and life style related cases of prevailing diseases in Sindh.”
