ISLAMABAD – The New Gwadar International Airport would be made fully operational by September 2023, the Secretary of the Aviation Division told the Parliamentary Committee on China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) here the other day.
The aviation gave a briefing during a meeting chaired by parliamentary committee chairman Sher Ali Arbab. He stressed that Gwadar was a gateway to CPEC, the multi-billion dollar project, and undeniably important in the entire rationale behind CPEC.
The chairman remarked, “We have to place it at high priority therefore no effort should be spared in resolving all the outstanding issues of clean water, electricity, infrastructure and livelihoods faced by the people of Gwadar.”
The Gwadar Port Authority Chairman informed that all possible efforts are being made for the completion of Pak-China Technical & Vocational Institute, adding that the project will be completed in December 2021.
Gwadar Port Authority is also consulting with NAVTTC, TEVTA and Chinese to devise a broad curriculum for the institute.
Last year, rhe construction of the much-awaited New Gwadar International Airport (NGIA) costing $ 230 million had entered its second phase after meeting specific benchmarks laid down in the first phase.
It would be the second-largest airport in Pakistan that will connect the fast-rising Gwadar port city to the rest of the world.
