In the case of insult and manhandling of a woman in Greater Iqbal Park, the police could not arrest any accused despite a lapse of 4 days. The police started looking towards Nadra to identify the accused.
Punjab IG Police Inam Ghani telephoned the Nadra chairman and requested for immediately identification of the accused. The IGP also sought details of the culprits identity cards.
The IG Punjab spoke to the Nadra chairman on telephone and asked him to start the process of identification of the accused immediately. Police sent their photographs to the Nadra chairman for identification of the accused.
IGP Inam Ghani said that all evidence against the accused would be collected and they would be arrested to ensure that they do not get off scotch-free.
A case has been registered against the accused under Section 354-A PPC which is punishable by life imprisonment or death penalty. The IGP said that all the accused would be given exemplary punishment.
On the other hand, teams have formed in Greater Iqbal Park to arrest the accused who assaulted and roughed up the woman.
IGP Inam Ghani also directed CCPO Lahore and DIG Investigations to directly monitor the case.
DIG Investigation Sharq Jamal Khan has formed a special investigation team, which will be headed by SSP Investigations to arrest the accused persons.
