SAPM visits Shalimar Gardens

Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) Jamshed Iqbal Cheema on Sunday visited the Shalimar Gardens and went around different sections of the historic bagh.

Director General Archaeology Ilyas Gill and other officers received at the Special Assistant upon arrival at the garden. Director of Archaeology Maqsood Ahmad briefed teh SAPM about the history and architecture of the garden.

SAPM Jamshed Iqbal Cheema visited the photographic gallery at the Moorcroft Pavilion, which was inaugurated in March. While participating in the tree plantation campaign, the SAPM also planted a sapling in the garden and vowed to plant more and more trees to combat effects of climate change.

The Special Assistant appreciated the Directorate of Archaeology for preserving the Shalimar Gardens in its original condition and photograph collection at the Moorcroft Pavilion. The SAPM said: “Living nations protect their history for future generations to let them know about their ancestors.”
