Covid-19 cases continue to pose a serious challenge to the authorities in the federal capital and on Sunday too, 410 new cases were reported in the last twenty-four hours.
According to the District health department, three deaths were also reported during this period taking the overall fatalities to 814.
The total number of Covid-19 cases on August 8 stood at 90,503 according to the district health department while 84,886 persons have been recovered from the virus, it further said.
Containing Delta variant of Covid-19 is at present the biggest challenge we are facing and its only prevention is vaccination and following of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) said District Health Officer (DHO) of Islamabad.
Meanwhile, the online cab service Careem in collaboration has partnered with the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration to arrange a Covid-19 vaccination camp for its colleagues, captains, their families and other residents of the workplace at its Karachi and Islamabad offices.
Zeeshan Hasib Baig, Country General Manager of Careem Pakistan while expressing the commitment to contribute to eradication of Covid-19 said, “We are extremely grateful to the ICT, respective offices for collaborating with us in setting up vaccination drives.
I encourage all Careem Captains, colleagues and customers, to get vaccinated as soon as possible and play their part in defeating the virus. Only together, we can beat the spread of this deadly virus”.
Careem is looking forward to ensuring that all its captains and colleagues are not only completely vaccinated but are also following the recommended guidelines and will continue to urge its customers to follow the same at all times.
Careem also introduced a “Get Vaccinated” tool in its app earlier this year, allowing customers to call the nearest
vaccination centre and book a hassle-free ride, avoiding all traffic and parking issues.
The tool includes detailed information from official government sources on the vaccines being offered in the country, their eligibility, and the timings and locations of all vaccination centres across the country.
DHO Islamabad Dr Zaeem Zia while commending Careem initiative hoped it would strengthen the efforts of the District Health Department in expanding the vaccination drive in Islamabad.
He urged other private organizations and services too to initiate a similar drive for vaccination of all those who have yet not received vaccine shots.
