A high level meeting to review and bring improvements in Police helpline-15 (Madadgar) was held at the office of the Inspector general of Police (IG) Tuesday. The IG Syed Kalim Imam had chaired the meeting.
The meeting decided that Police department’s further seven departments would be incorporated with Police Help Line -15 (Madadgar) so as to expand the working sphere of the Help Line and that would enhance the Police’s response to amicably deal with public complaints and their resolution.
In this context, Special Security Unit (SSU) and Rapid response Force (RRF) would also be at the disposal of the Additional IG of Police.
The IG directed that the quicker police response should be ensured to combat with the crimes and for busting their networks, patronisers and facilitators.
He told the meeting that the Help Line-15 (Madadgar) would be taken as Pilot Project and Urban Policing in Karachi was unavoidable.
In addition, Police Stations would be strengthened to respond to public needs regarding the elimination of crimes and redressal of their complaints.
The IG of Police, Sindh Imam asked the DIG Security and DIG Admin to write and furnish necessary details with recommendations regarding Police help Line -15 (Madadgar) so that those could be implemented in letter and spirit.
Additional IG of Police Karachi Ghulam Nabi Memon told the meeting that the rate of crime was curbed with the effective use of Police’s rapid response through Police help Line -15 (Madadgar) especially in Karachi’s districts East and Central.
Memon was of his resolve that Police Help Line -15 (Madadgar) would be transformed into Police’s FACE. Additional IG Counter Terrorism department Dr Kamran Fazal was also present.
