The Higher Education Department (HED) of Punjab has sought explanations from the teachers within three days who were allegedly involved in receiving monetary assistance under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) every month.
Sources in education department said that action would be taken against the teachers in question under PEEDA Act.
Quoting sources, a private TV channel reported that it had been revealed that those who received amounts under the BISP also included principal of a college followed by professors, associate professors and lecturers.
Their names are as under: Hafiz Mujeebur Rehman (lecturer), Abdur Rehman (lecturer), Assistant Professor Azra Parveen, Assistant Prof Rizwana Anjum, Assistant Professor Meher Ashiq Hussain, Assistant Professor Muhammad Ashraf, Assistant Professor Rizwan Ahmed Jan, Assistant Professor Muhammad Afzal, Associate Professor Mazhar Hussain, Principal Younus Hassan, Instructor Ghulam Samdani, Instructor Muhammad Umer, Instructor Yousaf Iqbal, Instructor Javed Iqbal and Lecturer Muhammad Iqbal Kamran. Sources that PEEDA Act would be invoked against these teachers.
