Directs to expedite vaccination drive to save public from 4th wave of corona

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Monday declared that media plays a pivotal role in moulding public opinion and has great importance in national development.
“The media’s diverse importance has increased manifold as digital media has been rapidly expanded.”
Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar was talking to Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) Chairman Muhammad Saleem Baig who called on the CM at the civil secretariat on Monday.
The Pemra chairman discussed in details the launch of a TV channel by the Punjab government with Usman Buzdar. He also presented the annual report of PEMRA to the CM.
On the occasion, the chief minister appreciated performance of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority, adding that media plays a pivotal role in moulding public opinion for national development.
“In the current age of digital evolution, the media’s diverse importance has increased manifold and nobody can deny or ignore this role as catalyst for change.”
SACM Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, Pemra legal head Tahir Tarar, Lahore regional general manager Akram Barkat and DGPR Punjab Saman Rai were also present in the meeting.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar chaired a meeting at on Monday to review steps for dealing with the fourth corona wave.
He was briefed about the special vaccination drive in five cities and vaccination of five million population of Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Gujranwala and Faisalabad by August 14.
The chief minister directed to further expedite the vaccination drive, adding that the health department and the administration concerned should actively perform to make this campaign a success.
“It is satisfying that around 20 percent population has been vaccinated across Punjab,” he said and appealed to the citizens to vaccinate themselves to secure their lives.
He said that the Punjab government has taken effective measures to overcome the virus as positive ratio cases is less than 3 percent.
The CM underscored that citizens should follow SOPs to remain safe from the fourth wave as 11 persons have died due to corona during the 24 hours.
The health secretaries briefed the meeting about vaccination drive and treatment measures in hospitals.
Health Minister Dr Yasmeen Rashid, the Punjab chief secretary and others attended the meeting.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar felicitated the PTI candidates on their success in AJK elections, saying that voters expressed their full confidence in the trustworthy leadership of PM Imran Khan.
The CM reiterated that the PTI’s success is a victory of honesty and trustworthiness. “After Gilgit-Baltistan, people in AJK also rejected the negative politics of looters and thieves,” he pointed out, adding that the anti-state narrative of the opposition has been crushed and the Kashmiris have driven the last nail in the coffin of the corrupt leaders.
The elections’ results have proved that people have full trust and confidence in the PTI leadership.
Meanwhile, CM Usman Buzdar expressed sorrows over the death of Haji Malik Ata Muhammad, elder brother of Punjab Energy Minister Dr Akhtar Malik.
In a condolence message, the CM extended heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family and prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace.
