The federal capital on Sunday reported spike in number of Covid-19 cases as 164 persons tested positive after 1,946 tests during the past twenty-four hours.
According to the District Health Officer (DHO) of Islamabad Dr Zaeem Zia, the positivity rate in the federal capital has jumped to 8 per cent that too, ahead of Eidul Azha which is quite alarming.
If we continued to ignore Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), the situation might go out of control and the Covid-19 positivity might go up further, he said.
Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad Hamza Shafqaat, Covid-19 also revealed in a tweet that positivity in Islamabad was showing alarming trends and in last twenty-four hours, more than 400 business houses were inspected and action was taken over violations of Covid-19.
The DC further noted in his tweet that during last two weeks the Covid-19 positivity in Islamabad has jumped from 1 per cent to 8 per cent.
“Around 40 per cent cases are suffering from delta variant. Admission in hospitals has increased from 100 to 159 which is not as high bcz of high vaccination rate in Islamabad. Almost 8 lac 50,000 vaccinated,” he further said in his tweet.
Earlier, the NCOC decided to administer second dose of Covid-19 vaccine to those who have not yet receive text message for the same.
A large number of people intending to get the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine were being sent back from vaccination centres because they failed to show the SMS that their second dose was due.
However, NCOC has now decided no one would be sent back. The NCOC was receiving complaints that a large number of people went to vaccination centres as soon as their second doses became due, but they were sent back by the staff saying that they should visit after they got the message from the helpline i.e. 1166, said a spokesperson of the NCOC.
