The police claimed to have recovered a woman who had been chained by her husband. According to the police, the woman was kept chained in her house in Pathankot, an adjacent town to Baseerpur in district Okara.
The police officials informed that the woman, identified as Sameera Bibi, had filed a divorce case in a court but her husband had chained and locked her up in a room of his house. The police came into action following her call for rescue on Helpline 15.
The police raided the house and secured her release. Her husband Zulqarnain, however, managed to flee the scene.
“We received the woman’s call on 15 and swiftly moved to rescue the woman”, a police informed.
The police have launched further investigation. The woman has requested the police to shift her to Darul Aman.
