OPC, PO team up to facilitate expats

Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) and Punjab Ombudsman (PO) has collaborated to facilitate and get the problems of overseas Pakistanis redressed in an efficient manner.

The matters related to how OPC and provincial Ombudsman can cooperate with each other were discussed at length in the meeting at OPC chaired by Commissioner OPC Syed Khadim Abbas.

The meeting was attended by DG OPC Ishratullah Khan Niazi, Mian Mohsin Rasheed (Consultant CPCC).

, Samiullah (FnP), Luqman Cheema (Incharge CMIS) and directors of OPC.
Participants gave a detailed overview of the mechanism of resolving complaints at provincial Ombudsman.

While addressing the meeting, Commissioner OPC said that we are committed to resolve the problems of overseas Pakistanis as per the vision of Prime Minister Pakistan Imran Khan.

He said, “Overseas Pakistanis are playing a pivotal role in strengthening the economy of this country so we must do everything we can to facilitate them. We owe it to them. Series of meetings will be conducted till final shape is given to the plan.”

The chair thanked the participants for their valuable suggestions. Participants also thanked the commissioner and ensured full support in future as well.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Special Education Department has decided to use the department’s buses to create awareness among the people about the special education department. The buses have been designed in bright colours to publicize the department’s initiatives on special education.

Helpline number 1162 has been conspicuously put on all the buses. This helpline is functional and all kinds of guidance are provided to the contacting parents.

Last year, 52 buses were purchased for special children. CCTV cameras have also been installed in buses for security purposes.

Minister for Special Education Department Chaudhry Mohammad Ikhlaq said that the special education department is working with the aim of doubling the enrolment ratio in its institutions.

There has always been a lack of focus on special education in the last regime which we are now trying to address, he added.
