LWMC overcomes major crisis

LWMC Chairman Amjad Ali Awan on Wednesday met President Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industries (LCCI) and exchanged reviews over current status of cleanliness in the City.

Chairman Amjad Ali Awan said that LWMC having a staff strengthen of 9,000 sanitary workers only which is insufficient for cleanliness of the metropolis City having a population of more than 15 million.

The LWMC has started cleanliness drive for commercial markets in night shift. The LWMC has faced short fall of 6,000 containers in past but now new containers are being distributed in all towns of Lahore.

All hotspot area of Lahore are attended by operation teams and vehicles. LWMC is procuring 940 vehicle for cleanliness purposes, of which procurement process in under process. Within next 15 days phase wise supply of operational vehicles will be started.

He further said that more than 6,000 ton waste is being lifted by our vehicles and secondary collection by outsourced vehicles.

Earlier in the past, this amount of tonnage was 3500 was needed to improve The Company has also established Special Squad to meet the complaints of waste which remained unattended. Similarly complaints received over 1139 helpline are redressed timely.
