Work on revamp of DHQ/THQ hospitals reviewed Dr Yasmin wants strict compliance with deadlines

Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid directed the officials on Tuesday to strictly observe deadlines in the ongoing development projects, warning that no shortcoming or delay will be tolerated in meeting deadlines.

Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid was chairing a meeting to review work on ongoing projects at Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department.

The meeting was attended by Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Secretary Sarah Aslam, Special Secretary PSH& Department Salman Ghani, Additional Secretary (Admin) Ghulam Farid, Additional Secretary Development Omar Farooq Alvi, Additional Secretary Technical Dr Asim Altaf and other officials.

The Health Minister reviewed the status of existing and under development DHQ and THQ hospitals, BHUs, RHCs, Sehat Ghar Program, Trauma Centres and Diagnostic Centres.

The health minister said, “Under the Prime Minister Health Initiative, work on up-gradation of public sector hospitals is underway in eight districts.

The work on DHQ hospital Multan and THQ hospital Taunsa is underway and Secretary Health South Ajmal Bhatti is personally monitoring the activities.

The government is setting up 13 Trauma Centres and overall, these centres are being set up in far-flung areas.

As many 26 existing Trauma Centres are being upgraded. Better facilities will be available after revamping of these hospitals.”

Dr Yasmin Rashid also reviewed revamping progress in the Admin Wing and she was apprised of the vacant and positions in the department.

The Health Minister said that requisition for 2500 vacant positions have been sent to Punjab Public Service Commission and the department has been directed to dispose of the pension cases as early as possible.

She said the attendance of doctors, nurses and paramedical staff is being ensured. Special Secretary PS&H Department Salman Ghani gave presentation on monitoring of hospitals.

The Minister said that medicine inventory and Management Information System shall be improved. She said bio matric attendance system shall be further improved.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department issued requisition to PPSC for different posts here in P&SHD.

While talking about these announced post Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare department Sara Aslam said here on Tuesday, there is transparent policy to recruit for different positions in P&SHD.

She said, we have sent requisition summary to PPSC for 1000 medical and 500 hundred women medical officers.

Interviews for 250 dental surgeons are in process, whereas 691 posts are advertised for the posts of consultants under various specialties, 120 posts are advertised for pharmacists and drug inspectors.

For assurance of recruitment on merit, third party is being selected as stakeholder, she added.

She also affirmed her determination to maximize all resources and existing facilities for the larger interest of public health while considering merit her prime focus.
