PAKISTAN has approached the UN Security Council expressing grave concern on reports that suggest India may be contemplating the imposition of further illegal and unilateral measures in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

A letter addressed to the President of UNSC, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi conveyed to the world body’s top decision-making Council about the Indian government’s possible plans seeking division, bifurcation and additional demographic changes to the occupied territory.

Indeed, India can go to any extent to further strengthen its hold of the illegally occupied territory.

However since Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized dispute and on the agenda of the UN Security Council over the last many decades, therefore, any such move on the pattern of August 5, 2019, will be contrary to the international laws as well as the resolutions of the UNSC.

Being party to the dispute, Pakistan has fulfilled the responsibility to apprise the UN about the possible illegal Indian action.

Now it is to be seen whether the world body moves to stop New Delhi from going ahead or acts as a silent spectator.

The people of Jammu and Kashmir have for long have been looking towards the world body to fulfil the promises made to them for their right to self-determination, and time has come that the resolutions adopted by the Security Council are implemented in letter and spirit.

If Modi Junta goes ahead with another illegal act in the occupied territory, it will also dash all hopes for any rapprochement between Pakistan and India.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has adopted a very categorical and upright stance that Pakistan will not sit with India for talks until it rescinds the 5th of August’s illegal steps. We are confident there will be no compromise on this stance.

The people of Pakistan have always stood with their Kashmiri brothers and sisters and they will continue to fight their case at the world forums until they get their birth right of independence from the cruel Indian clutches.
